Breastfeeding for the Health of our Nations: How Breastfeeding Can Help Overcome Intergenerational Trauma through Skilled Lactation Support

1.5 L-CERPs

8:30am to 10:00am

Through in-depth studies on trauma and healing, entwined with stories of our collective experience, Stephanie George will help us to understand trauma from an indigenous/colonized people perspective. More precisely, the presentation will allow us to understand why and how breastfeeding can help to heal a mom, family and her community from trauma.

Using a Trauma-Informed Approach to Lactation Issues

1.5 E-CERPs

10:30am to 12:00pm

In this second conference, Stephanie George will utilize a trauma-informed approach to breastfeeding and family dynamics, with an emphasis on working with fathers and partners. We will discuss ACE Scores (Adverse Childhood Experience), domestic violence in many forms, and discuss different methodologies to bring healing and wellness to the parent and/or family.

An afternoon with Jewel Mohr, IBCLC, MEd

Structure and Function: A Visual Guide to Structure and Function Issues in Infants

3 L-CERPs

1:00pm to 4:30pm

This course focuses on how structural issues can affect infants, and how to visually assess structural issues in infants. This course looks at reasons beyond oral issues (tongue-tie, congenital defects, etc.) that affect infant feeding and behaviour. The course provides an overview of facial asymmetry including the jaw, and full-body asymmetry. By the end of this course, you will be able to: 1) list possible causes and effects of structure/function issues, 2) visually recognize various signs of possible structural issues, 3) list possible short, and long-term effects, if structural issues are left untreated, and 4) know what to do with this information.

Upon presentation of the certificate of attendance at this conference, Jewel Mohr offers you a discount code to access her workshop, Structure and Function: How the Infant’s Structure Affects the Infant’s Function (6 L-CERPs). For more information on the rest of the course, her page here: https://mohrlactation.com/structure-and-function-education/. Instructions will be available the day of the conference on how to use the promotional code.
